The Cone of Chaos
If there is little to no planning at the beginning of a project, there can be a large amount of churn and chaos downstream in the project. By committing to proper project planning and designing the project accordingly, we can reduce or eliminate project churn and chaos.
We place great emphasis on Project Planning, no matter how large or small an initiative might be. In fact, we have added a "P" for Planning on the front end of the ADDIE model - PADDIE. At the start of an engagement, we work through a checklist of project variables to ensure we are identifying and mitigating project risks, and then we shape project processes to fit. SME availability, quality of source data, client team capabilities and chemistry, and many other variables come under scrutiny to determine the best project structure and processes that will ensure a smooth running project with successful results.
